Statement

1. Hong Kong Finance Company Limited would like to alert its customers to bogus communications (e.g. fraudulent phone calls, voice messages, emails, SMS and other spoofing methods) in the name of Hong Kong Finance.

2. Hong Kong Finance would like to remind its customers not to provide any personal information, or to pay any deposits, service fees or miscellaneous fees to suspicious callers. As a listed company, Hong Kong Finance is law-abiding and does not charge customers any deposits, service fees or miscellaneous fees. If you suspect that personal information has been disclosed to a suspicious third party, or if you wish to identify whether the communication is sent by Hong Kong Finance, please contact Hong Kong Finance’s service hotline at 3700 3687 to verify the identity of the caller with Ms. Pang, or you may report the matter to the police.

3. Fraudsters have been sending voice messages purporting to be from Hong Kong Finance or spoofed SMS to trick customers into calling a spoofed hotline number, during which customers may inadvertently disclose sensitive personal information, or pay deposits, service fees or miscellaneous fees to fraudsters. Hong Kong Finance would like to remind its customers that it has no connection with these bogus communications.

4. Customers are reminded to stay alert to bogus phone calls from fraudsters purporting to be from Hong Kong Finance, claiming unusual transaction record is identified in your loan account, or claiming to offer loan services or products through phone calls or pre-recorded voice messages, and then requesting you to provide sensitive personal information such as identity card number or property proof. Customers are reminded to stay alert if you receive such a phone call.

5. SMS purporting to be from Hong Kong Finance that claims to offer customers loan services or products, and requests them to provide sensitive personal information. If you have doubts about the information or contact details in the received SMS, you should verify the hotline number with Hong Kong Finance first rather than contacting the person as instructed in the SMS.

6. Hong Kong Finance has not authorised or appointed any intermediary company to make phone calls or send SMS to promote applications for its loan services or products (e.g. mortgage loans, unsecured loans for property owners and personal loans). If the caller claims to be from Hong Kong Finance and invites applications for mortgage loans, unsecured loans for property owners or personal loans, unauthorised telemarketing calls are likely involved.

7. If you do not wish to receive promotional materials from Hong Kong Finance, please call our hotline at 2525 3535, mail to “Unit 3410, 34th Floor, Tower II, Lippo Centre, 89 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong”, or visit Hong Kong Finance Company Limited to express your preference. Please indicate clearly that you do not wish to receive promotional phone calls or emails when going through the formalities. We will remove your contact telephone details from our promotional list within seven calendar days at no extra charge.
